I have spoken with one or two well-known organizations. Where else can I turn?\u0026rdquo;\nIt is sad that we live in that reality, but it is reality. People need help. Sometimes they need food. Sometimes they need clothing, shelter, transportation, counseling, prayer, financial guidance, recovery support, youth programs, senior services, or simply someone who knows where to point them next.\nAnd too often, the answer is scattered across Facebook comments, old websites, word of mouth, outdated flyers, and people trying their best to remember the name of an organization they heard about once.\nThat is one of the reasons we are building the Community Directory.\nOur goal is simple: we want Your Good News to become the most comprehensive directory of community organizations on the Eastern Shore.\nNot just the largest list.\nThe most useful one.\nWe want people to be able to find churches, nonprofits, ministries, civic groups, food programs, shelters, recovery resources, youth organizations, senior services, local foundations, volunteer groups, and other community helpers in one place.\nIf someone needs help, they should not have to start from scratch.\nIf someone wants to donate, they should be able to find organizations doing good work.\nIf someone wants to volunteer, they should be able to discover where their time and talents may be useful.\nIf an organization is serving the community, people should be able to find it.\nThat is the purpose of the directory.\nIt is not just a feature on a website. It is a tool for connection. It is a way to make the good work already happening in our communities easier to see, easier to share, and easier to support.\nBut we cannot build it completely by ourselves.\nWe need help from the organizations themselves, from volunteers, from readers, and from neighbors who know the groups doing good work in their towns.\nIf you are part of a nonprofit, church, ministry, civic organization, food pantry, service group, youth program, recovery group, or community project, we would love to include your information.\nIf you know of an organization that should be listed, please send it our way.\nOur hope is that, over time, the directory becomes one of the first places people turn when they are looking for help, looking to help, or looking to understand the good work being done around them.\nThe Eastern Shore is full of people helping people.\nWe want to help people find them.\nSubmit your organization by using our form or drop us an email: goodnews@yourgood.news\nPhoto by Marlis Trio Akbar on Unsplash\n","date":"2026-05-25","params":{"author":"norms-ministry","county":"Talbot","date":"2026-05-25T23:36:00-04:00","draft":false,"featured":true,"featured_image":"/uploads/marlis-trio-akbar-emb60hnhfl8-unsplash.jpg","featured_in_issue":false,"image_alt":"","iscjklanguage":false,"lastmod":"2026-05-26T00:14:13-04:00","permission_status":"editorial","publishdate":"2026-05-25T23:36:00-04:00","state":"Maryland","status":"published","sticky":false,"story_type":"community","summary":"We are building the most comprehensive directory of community organizations on the Shore, and we are inviting local nonprofits, churches, ministries, civic groups, and service organizations to help us make it complete.","title":"Helping People Find the Helpers on the Eastern Shore"},"section":"stories","summary":"We are building the most comprehensive directory of community organizations on the Shore, and we are inviting local nonprofits, churches, ministries, civic groups, and service organizations to help us make it complete.","title":"Helping People Find the Helpers on the Eastern Shore","url":"/stories/helping-people-find-the-helpers-on-the-eastern-shore/"}
